Aadhithya Arunachalam (Rajinikanth) is transferred from Delhi to Mumbai to make the city a drug free and he is assigned the kidnap case of Deputy CM’s daughter. In the process of solving the kidnap mystery, Aadhithya Arunachalam comes across the key leads of drug mafia and women trafficking in Mumbai city. During this period few incidents make sincere police officer Aadhithya Arunachalam as a ruthless bad cop and keep an end to the drugs mafia. What are those incidents? Why Aadhithya Arunachalam turn as a bad cop? Forms the rest of the story.

Rajinikanth has shouldered the entire film effortless with a new avatar and he is looking younger than ever in Darbar movie. The sword fight scenes and the metro station fight sequence will thrill everyone. His style, trademark mannerisms, dances, comic timing, dialogues with mass touch are a treat to watch on the big screen and he nailed it as Mumbai police commissioner Aadhithya Arunachalam from start to end of the movie.

Nivetha Thomas has got a great opportunity to share screen space as a daughter to Rajinikanth in Darbar and she gave breathtaking performance especially in the emotional part that is the crux point of hero bad cop transformation. Father and daughter bonding scenes are executed perfectly making them one of the highlights of the film.

Nayantara is given a little screen time but as usual, she has shined in the character making her presence felt and also as a perfect heroine beside Rajinikanth giving the required glam out in Darbar. Her chemistry with Rajinikanth is delightful as always even in this film too. Comedian Yogi Babu tried his best to evoke laughs and he is partially successful in his attempt. Prateik Babbar did his part right and he was okay to an extent. Sunil Shetty aura and great screen presences can be sensed in Darbar. The cat and mouse games between Sunil Shetty and Rajinikanth are good to watch. Sunil Shetty is a bit underused, his character can be more impactful but he managed with his performance as a new age mafia don.
