Story Details

Dev(Karthi) is a fun and adventure loving guy who forcefullygets in touch with Meghana(Rakul Preet), a rich business woman who has no timefor love. At first, Meghana avoids Dev but slowly falls for him. The twist inthe tale arises when Dev starts having issues with Meghana and her possessiveattitude. Rest of the story is as to how Dev and Meghana dealt theirdifferences and get back together.

The wordadventure gets bandied about a lot in Rajath Ravishankar’s Dev. Theprotagonist, Dev (Karthi), we are told, is an adventure seeker. In fact, hedoes nothing but that. Not even the things that a 28-year-old might worryabout. Like mundane things like career, you know. But then, he can afford to beone, for his father Ramalingam (Prakash Raj) seems to be a wealthy man. Atleast from whatever little that we get to see of him in the film’s overtwo-and-a-half-hour run time.

So, is Dev an adventure film? Not really. There are a couple of trips and an Everest-climbing scene, though. Is it aromantic film? No. Even though much of it revolves around the romance betweenDev and (Meghna), who he decides to fall in love with after seeing her pic onFacebook. A relationship drama? Nope, despite there being a family. Does thatmean it is an action film? Well, not at all, even though the trailer had somestunts. If you want to describe the film somehow, you could very well go aheadand call it a misadventure. For that is what it is, from start to finish.

Others Comment:
Karthi, who is just about okay in the looks department looks great sharp in his modern get up. His hair style and delightful character is brought on screen in a lovely manner. Performance wise, he is very good and did a good job in this film. Rakul gets a profound role in the film and dominates Karthi in most of the scenes. She shares a sizzling interaction with Karthi and is a perfect fit as a rich business woman with idealistic attitude. The guys who did the role of Karthi’s friend was just about okay. Rest of the star cast did not have much to do in the film.
